Description
- Spindle whorl
- Object circular in plan, 4.1cm diameter. With a 1cm dia hole central. Object decorated to one face and around edge with 'V' shaped impressions. On the face these are in the form of 3 concentric rings of such impressions. The object has become fractured laterally and with loss of reverse face and a proportion of edge face. Remnant shows edge face decorated with parallel rows of 'V" impressions.

- Fine ashy dark brown soil that (at this point) we believe fills the top of a cut that is filled below by the dark black soil 0877. It certainly covers the black in a section on the SE part of a circular cut [0897] filled by 0877. Does not fill the cut 0897, but it is rather likely some sort of surface associated with metal-working activities.
