Description
- CH04SR0415
- Lower layer of burnt material in hearth 391
- Thick dark black soil, very compact, with small inclusions of charcoal (flakes etc), less slag than 391 but some small chunks still preset/ located in area of hearth below 391, above bedrock of hard clay surface.
- This seems to have been the layer initially sampled (first part of section), recorded as 391 - but 391 in that area had already been taken of during a lifting of carbonised wood.
