Description
- CH04SR0418
- Construction of metal-working hearth with stones/clay
- Roughly circular construction of small stones, clay (or perhaps [?] heated earth) and at bedrock located ca. 1.7 m from the door between room 28 and the street; about 35 cm in diameter, ca. 10-14 cm deep, fairly steep and well-defined edges but no evidence for any sort of upper structure; also seems to include a rough, linear depression to the N-NE with some ash
- If a superstructure had existed, the layer of collapse should have sealed it- so must have been portable or absent
Interpretation
-
- Metal-working hearth, either open or with a movable (metal?) superstructure- small-scale repair etc…?
