Description
- CH05SR0539
- Fill of Tomb 4
- The fill of the tomb is composed of grayish brown to dark grayish brown sandy soil with smal lumps. Also there are larger stones and remains of mortar. The bones in the upper part of the tomb are disarticulated. Fourteen skulls were found in SW corner of the tomb, 10 skulls lined up in two rows of 5. One partially articulated skeleton found - left side of body along NW side of tomb.
- Bomb damage in this area of church may have disturbed remains here even further. This context may equal context number 552.
Interpretation
-
- The stones and mortar are probably remains of the church wall. Therefore the grave has probably been severely disturbed. Grave also seems to hold remains associated with those found in Tomb 5. Small quantity of 13th century material may indicate fill event in that century.
