Description
- CH05SR0540
- Ashy patch in S region of Room 32
- Appx. 55 x 85 cm generally circular pit feature. Filled with loose grey-ashy fine silt-loam.
- Possibly the same as context 460. Relationship between the two was obscured by excavation. Material isolated due to stratigraphic uncertainty.
Interpretation
-
- Probable cut into context 461 by context 460, though this relationship is not certain. Ash pit is filled with nails and metallurgical debris, likely to have been associated with the earlier metalworking activities identified in the room. Probably the site of a hearth.
