  • Brown soil mottled with ash in N corner of room 33 filling cut 653
  • Loose, ashy dark-grey-brown material, mottled with flecks of ash filling a bedrock cut . Large building stone incorporated into the fill.
  • Some doubt as to the relationship between 644 and 647, material of same color and inclusions, differing in consistency and compactness, was traced over the surface of 636 and into 653. Premature attempt to remove the large building stone, may have loosened up the soil in and around the cut. Not enough pottery for conclusions.

Interpretation

    • Ashy fill of cut in N. corner of room 33. Unclear if deliberate fill or accumulation of ashy debris in depression, stone may have been set deliberately.
