- Soil from doorway in room 33
- Compacted soil in doorway into room 33, inclusions include packing material (stones), tile fragments, ceramics, and sherds. Hard and smooth, partially covers stone of sill into 28.
- Surface topography shot in with total station; not clear if more compact general fill or deliberate beaten earth construction.
Interpretation

- soil and admixed material used to pack in and build up the threshhold into Room 33, associated with the built step (658). Probably dual purpose construction, both to level the irregular bedrock, as well as provide a stable point of entry into the room. Probably associated with the last phase, as the built step only extended the length of the modified (narrowed door).

- Ceramic material suggests a date for this layer in the 10th-11th c., but stratigraphic relationships may indicate, as above, that this soil should be associated with the filling of the bedrock cut in preparation for the construction of room 33. It is possible that, as elsewhere, this stone and soil construction represents the remains of the wall elevation of the earlier bedrock-cut structure
