  • Construction of clay and tiles in S corner of E wing of room 31
  • Construction from compact yellowish clay with inclusions of charcoal, small pieces of ceramic, ash. Clay layer is bordered with pieces of broken tile, stones & ridge tile. Partly covered with clay. Construction is partly covered by wall 229 trench. Construction filled by white soft ash with charcoals (10-15cm) and without bones. Dimensions: 70*90cm.
  • After removing of a fill of construction we found that this stove had bedding layer made from broken tile and pithoi sherds.

Interpretation

    • Possibly this construction was used as stove. Almost on same level we found a vessel (kitchen ware) with pig's bones inside, also few fishing hooks (one of them with remains of fish bones.) Possibly this wing of Room 31 was used as a kitchen.

    • Bones are more precisely id'd in faunal database as ovicaprid; appear to be seven or eight thoracic vertebrae and several ribs with cut-marks, probably from a single cut of meat
