Description
- CH06SR0830
- Layer above bedrock in wall trench of NE courtyard
- At definition this context extended 1.5 M from section 1 towards section 2 in the wall trench. It also extended approximately 60 cm from section 2 towards section 1. In between these two areas we did not find the context, though it may have been removed while excavating context 0762. The soil is a yellowish brown loam with clay [more loose on top than bottom]. This context did extend into Area 3, continuing under the wall trench for walls 265 and 50.
- This layer was easily distinguishable in the profile of section 1 and may extend under SR0782 or 0772 (did not see it under either).
Interpretation

- A thin layer associated with the construction of the wall trench. However, it is difficult to discern whether this action is intentional or casual. My guess is that the soil accumulates as a casual event during construction of the wall.
