Description
- CH06SR0848
- Courtyard, compact red clayish soil near foundation trench at junction of walls 50 and 265
- At definition the context was 60 cm (NW-SE) X 35 cm (NE-SW) and approximately 15-20 cm in depth. The soil was reddish brown and compactwith a lot of charcoal and ash. There was a lense of gray ash that covered this context and a couple of ceramic sherds that appeared to be burnt.
- Three or Four fragments of tile were large compared to the size of the [relatively small] context and other artifacts recovered. No industrial debris was recovered from this context.
Interpretation
-
- A small area where fire was used in some fashion. Proximity to walls and wall trench may suggest it was associated with its construction?
