Description
- CH05SR0557
- Cut of 555 in E. Corner of room 33, in floor of 519
- Generally circular cut over partially modified bedrock. 90 cm x 80 cm oval approximately 40 cm deep.
- Heath bottom, context 589 was micro-topoed. Cut continued into baked and compacted material from fill 519.
Interpretation
-
- Cut of surface 519, probably for metallurgical instalation. At least two hearth walls (individual hearths) delineated in floor of hearth (589). Fill was high in metallugical debris, dark ashy material, and a hard baked floor surface makes a strong argument for metallurgical activity.
