Description
- CH05SR0605
- Mottled clay above bedrock in N courtyard
- Heavily mottled clay with red, green, grey, white, and yellow inclusions; compact! And concentrated in the NE part of the courtyard. Extends the length of wall 31 getting more narrow as it extends south.
- I thought this context was right above bedrock, but apparently it goes at least a little deeper than expected; nonetheless it is above bedrock. The shape may be related to a wall trench but its hard to tell. Approximately half of the material from the preliminary datable ceramics are from IX-X centuries. *good for dating
Interpretation

- Fill for an early occupation of the courtyard mixed with eroding bedrock.
