  • Floor level in NW part of room 37 behind the wall 607
  • Hardened ground floor behind the wall 607, in front of the NW section wall of the trench; solid brownish layer with small stones, pieces of pottery of small size, ca. 15cm deep; seems to extend under wall 607
  • DVD feels that this surface extends below wall 607, in which case that wall may be later -- ceramic evidence for this layer includes material from the 13th c., though a very small number of fragments; given the stratigraphic situation and the good evidence for dating both the surface inside 37 and wall 607 to the 6th c. AD, this material is probably contamination if the wall in fact covers the surface
