  • Floor 2 in room 37 in SW part of room 37, under 591
  • Floor of hardened brownish soil with ash inclusions. On the top of 620 in SW corner of room 37 was a large quantity of mollusc shells, concentrated in area next to edge of pit and apparently sitting on the surface of this layer. Occupied area in SW corner left by central pit, irregular limits, maximum extent ca. 1.5, max 20cm deep, less in places.
  • original cxt sheet indicated that layer covered 693, but probably incorrect on basis of position of layer (693 in opposite corner)

Interpretation

    • layer connected in some way with clay construction 637; on the basis of the shell and numerous hooks found, there may be some connection with fishing
