• Definition Beaten-earth surface in NE part of room 30, under 603 in large bedrock cut
• Description Very dark grayish-brown compact surface with a lot of very small fragments of ceramics, tiles and bones. Also includes lime crumb; very flat and smooth, about 15cm deep, located over most of area of large bedrock cut along the NE wall of room 30, but most visible in the N corner of that cut
• Observations Date provided by ceramic evidence, but only on the basis of a very small number of fragments; although the ceramics indicate a date in the 13th c. and the only coin is of the same date, the presence of the infant burial suggests that the lower surface was an occupational surface, and not simply fill, and therefore it seems probable that the date is somewhat earlier -- the coin, in fact, was found just over the surface and not below or within it, so it and the ceramics could be from the 13th c. filling activity and not from the floor itself
