- Dark brown loose soil in E corner of room 38
- Layer of dark brown soil underneath a large stone, left along the southern part of the E wall (wall 257) of room 38 in the 2005 season. The material under the stone was compact from the pressure of the stone but was otherwise easily removed, and filled with pottery and bone. There were no special finds, though there were iron nails.
- This layer was revealed prematurely on the second day of excavation. Only after bringing the rest of the room down to this level was it clear that it was equal to Context 753.
Interpretation

- This layer appeared under a large stone, left in the previous season, that was removed along with Context 712. When it was removed, the soil beneath was lower, darker brown soil. Although it was assigned a separate context number it is, in fact, the same as Context 753. This context is likely part of the Byzantine fill of this area from local dumps.
