  • Soft greyish soil with inclusions of pebbles , small stones, many animal bones, large quantities of pottery, distinct (at least in excavation) from material at same level on other side of removed wall
  • may have been equal to 596; DVD thinks different, on the basis of the finds; cxt sheet reads "some chance that distinction between 575 and 596 is artificial -- no clear limit observed"
