Description

  • CH05SR0586
  • Stone pile in N corner of room 33
  • Pile of wall size stones, appx. 1m x 1.6m in N. corner of Room 33. Stones are intermingled with tile and wall plaster. Dense fill or packing. Subsequent excavation made it cleat that this is a more compact layer of fill, possibly from a earlier wall.
  • Material directly overlies contexts 636 and 630. Context has high plaster density, localized to this area particularly. Based on finds with and, directly underneath rock layer, considered same as 519.

Interpretation

    • Pile of stones, likely from the remains of a wall, filled into the North corner of Room 33 to level the floor surface for the later occupation. Stones lay atop fill identical materially to the overlying context (519). Appears to be single dumping event, durring the leveling of the bedrock depressions in room 33.

    • There is also a possibility that this material is in situ and related to the original use of the bedrock cut, as with SR567
